Pedagogic clarification (7-87), first term after the first equal sign, with similar things elsewhere in the chapter: One might think for the T matrix, the second subscript perhaps should be written as nu_l instead of l. That would be correct. However, we sum on the nu_l subscript of T with the l subscript of Udagger, for l = 1,2,3 (or e, mu, tau). But this just means we are post multiplying the T matrix by the Udagger matrix. So, to make that clear, we use the index l on both T and Udagger, as that implies, by the Einstein convention, that we are summing. We do this sort of thing in several places in the text, so hopefully this note will help avoid any confusion. |
